Certified Management Accountant is a professional certification credential in the management accounting and financial management fields awarded by the IMA. What is the CMA exam format?
The CMA exam is fully computerized and is available at hundreds of prometric centres around the world. The exam is held three examination windows in a year namely Jan & Feb/May & June/ Sept & Oct.
What is the duration of the exam?

a) There are two parts in the exam. Each part is 3 hours long for 100 multiple choice questions, representing 75% of the exam score. The second section is essay writing representing the remaining 25%. You will be given 30 minutes for each of the two essays. Total testing duration is 4 hours.
b) You must pass at least 50% of the first (i.e., multiple choice) section in order to advance to the essay questions. You can use any time remaining from the multiple-choice questions towards the essay portion.

The total marks per paper is 500, and minimum passing is 362 marks.

Where are the US CMA exams held?
The exams are held in 8 Prometric centres across India. The exams are closely proctored, with candidates not being allowed to carry any items not necessary for the exam to the centre. The exams are held in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Trivandrum.
What is the passing rate of US CMA?
The passing rate has seen a gradual increase in the last 7 years for part 1 of the exam. The pass rate for Part 2 of the exam has always been higher than Part 1 but is now at a similar percentage. The average pass rate of the last 4 years for part 1 is 38%, whereas the pass rate for part 1 (2020) was 45%. The average pass rate of the last 4 years for part 2 is 48%, whereas the pass rate for part 2 (2020) was 45%.
Can a science/engineering student pursue CMA?
Yes, any candidate who has cleared their 12th grade is eligible for the CMA exam.
What kinds of skills are tested for in a candidate in the US CMA exam?
CMA is an International certification, and is an industry integrated curriculum which tests a student at all levels of testing. CMA exams require Level C coverage, i.e., following cognitive skills: Knowledge Comprehension Application Analysis Synthesis Evaluation

Is US CMA difficult to pass?
The US CMA Exam is considered as hardest as it tests the intellectual limits of an individual. The average passing rate for both sections is 45%, which implies less than half of the candidates taking the test rate will pass. Qualifying for any exam requires preparation and so this.
Is CMA in India and US same?
Certified Management Accounting (CMA) of the USA has worldwide recognition managed by a regulatory body IMA (Institute of Management Accountants). In contrast, the CMA India certification is granted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
